Move over butter yellow…there’s a new yellow in town.

Just when we were all getting comfortable with butter yellow, a new shade is starting to steal the spotlight. WGSN and Coloro are calling it Celestial Yellow, while Future Snoops refers to it as Scuffed Yellow. Personally, I think Posset Yellow captures the essence perfectly.

This new yellow is a little zingier than butter yellow—imagine someone ever so gently knocking the warmth out of it. It’s fresher, with a touch of coolness that makes it feel more modern and, dare I say, easier to wear.

When butter yellow first emerged, it was met with hesitation. Comments like “Oh, that won’t suit my skin tone,” or “That’s a hard wear,” were common. But over time, it won people over. Its quiet optimism and unexpected versatility made it a favourite, proving easier to wear than many had thought.

And now, this new take on yellow feels like the natural next step. It retains the softness of butter yellow but brings in a little more edge—less creamy, more refined. I see this colour making waves in AW25 and continuing strong into SS26. It could even linger into SS27, subtly evolving again, as all great colours do.

Styling-wise, this yellow pairs beautifully with chambray denim and looks sophisticated grounded by inky blues and soft neutral browns. Come winter, imagine it with winter whites—injecting much-needed energy and optimism into cold-weather wardrobes.

So, keep your eyes peeled. Posset Yellow might just be the next quiet revolution in colour.
