Why choose me as a freelance fashion designer over someone else?

Let’s be honest, there are so many freelance fashion designers out there. It must be hard for someone to choose the right one for their project. Which has got me thinking, what is my niche? Luckily, the more you look, the more you realise: we’ve all got our niche and there is room for everyone.

I’ve dipped into kidswear and menswear over the years, but my heart belongs to womenswear. I love being a freelance womenswear designer as I love to make women look and feel good. If I had to choose one category..... I would have to say it has to be jersey. Luckily for me this covers a vast amount of departments....tops, dresses, skirts, sweats, sleep, trousers. You name it, and there is a place for Jersey.

Now, some people call jersey the “easy” category… nope. Yes, the fit can be more forgiving, but pick the wrong fabric and it instantly feels cheap. Too shiny, too spongey, and it can easily cheapens a product.

For me, fabric is the foundation. Get it wrong and the whole product will feel off. Give me a buttery soft jersey swatch with a beautiful drape and suddenly my brain is firing off 10 ideas at once. That’s the magic moment, when you feel the garment before you even sketch it.

So if I had to define my niche?
